Dealing With Medical Bills â€‹

So the thing is - even with Insurance, sometimes you'll get a bill for services you received.

But we here at the Marketplace of Health, we have some tips and suggestions so to make bills easier to deal with.

1.

Always Check If A Service Is Covered By Insurance: If it is – great, no worries. If Not – then you can prepare for upcoming costs.

2.

Ask For An Itemized Bill: Hospitals can bill you for the light, the air conditioning or other unrelated resources used during your stay. By asking for detailed list of what you had done - you can avoid being overcharged

3.

Negotiate! Ask the billing department if you can pay in installments (w/low or no interest), receive notices on what you’ve paid & what you still owe, and ask if your debt can stay with the hospital rather than be sold off to a third party.

4.

Last but not least & arguably the most important tip. Don’t Take Out Loans: It may seem helpful in the short term but You’ll be paying that loan back for a long time & if you miss payments or default – it will affect your credit score.
